Breaking Benjamin lead singer and guitarist Benjamin Burnley paused his performance at a concert in Holmdel, New Jersey, to spend nearly five minutes introducing a Fallout 4 mod he created and publicly discussing a dispute with another mod author.
During the September 6 show, Burnley stated that he is an amateur modder who has previously created mods for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. His recently completed Fallout 4 mod is called "True First Person Mod," and his Nexus Mods username is "killemloud." Staff members even projected the mod's name and username onto the venue's large screen.
According to Burnley, this mod allows players to maintain a first-person perspective while still seeing their character's body in workshop areas and other scenes, with the original third-person functionality remaining fully operational. He urged the audience to download the mod from Nexus Mods and mentioned that he was uploading version 1.2 during the show.
When asked about his motivation for creating the mod, Burnley explained that another modder in the community had disparaged his work and skills. While he did not name the individual, he openly expressed his hope to boost downloads for his mod through the concert audience as a response to their feud.
The remarks were filmed by an audience member and posted to Reddit. In the video, some attendees appeared surprised by Burnley's involvement in game modding, while a few others called out from the crowd for him to stop talking about updates and resume playing.
Burnley emphasized that mod authors should be able to continue learning, improving, and releasing updates after publishing their work. Currently, he is uploading version 1.2 of "True First Person Mod," and clips from the concert have already spread across social media platforms.
