Yesterday, the digital store Steam and its database suffered one of the largest leaks in recent years, comparable in scale to the famous GeForce NOW leak of 2021. On Exophase, a well-known portal that tracks trophies across all gaming platforms, complete achievement lists for over 35 unreleased titles suddenly appeared, some of which haven't even been officially announced.
The leaked game list even includes the Ukrainian post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2039, which is scheduled for release next February. Achievement data leaked into public channels, prematurely exposing the story mission structure, challenges, and some gameplay mechanics of this upcoming title from 4A Games, long before its release.
Similar leaks have affected other highly anticipated flagship titles:
Persona 6: The trophy list contains direct plot spoilers, even though Atlus hasn't yet officially showcased the first gameplay demo.
Kingdom Hearts IV: Achievements confirm the appearance of worlds from the Disney Expanded Universe, content that Square Enix has not yet publicly announced.
Mega Man: Double Overload: New boss names ("Robot Masters") were discovered in the reward list.
This leak also confirmed the existence of Deus Ex Remake, Dynasty Warriors 2 Complete Edition Remake, and Thief: The Dark Project Remake.
The database also featured trophy lists for Judas by BioShock creator Ken Levine, Control: Resonance, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Siegfried, Horizon Hunters Gathering, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Other Heaven, Tomb Raider: Ruins of Atlantis, Star Wars: Galactic Racing, Persona 4: Revival, the Telltale The Walking Dead Collection remake, and even Squadron 42, the narrative campaign of Star Citizen.
Valve and the affected studios have not yet commented on the incident. It appears the data appeared on tracking websites because developer internal data was synced to Steam servers prematurely.
