Nintendo has announced that Star Fox will receive a free update on September 29. This update will expand multiplayer content, adding four-player split-screen functionality and allowing players to form teams for online battles.
Following the update, up to four players can enter battle mode on a single Nintendo Switch 2 console. Players can compete against each other via local play or team up to join online battles.
The game will also add three stage maps: Katina, X-Zone, and Venom. Each map features its own mission objectives, offering different gameplay conditions for multiplayer battles.
The current version of Star Fox was released earlier this year. Developed by the US studio Velan, it is a remake of the Nintendo 64 rail shooter Star Fox 64.
Nintendo also announced during the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9 that the GameCube title Star Fox Adventures has been added to the Nintendo Switch Online library.
