Activision has announced a pre-order bonus for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Players who pre-order on any platform will receive the "Inner Circuit" M4 weapon blueprint, with Xbox players getting a translucent green version commemorating the 25th anniversary of Xbox.
This exclusive skin features the iconic translucent green design of the original Xbox, allowing players to see the internal structure through the gun body. Pre-order players on other platforms can also obtain this weapon, but the blueprint will not include Xbox-themed decorations.
There are also differences in display across platforms. When playing on PlayStation or Switch 2, players will not see the translucent green Xbox skin; only the Xbox platform will display this design.
The two blueprints differ only in visual appearance; the attached accessories and actual in-game performance are identical. Therefore, the Xbox-exclusive content does not alter weapon stats or gameplay mechanics.
In addition to the exclusive weapon skin, Microsoft will provide a $5 credit to players who purchase the Xbox version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Microsoft previously acquired Activision and the Call of Duty series, and had promised regulators that it would not diminish the content of the series on platforms other than Xbox, ensuring consistency across all platform versions.
Phil Spencer, then head of Xbox, stated in 2023 that Microsoft had no intention of using Call of Duty to drive Xbox console sales. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released on October 23, launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
