Recently, media reviews for Marvel's Wolverine have been released. IGN reviewed the game and gave it a score of 6. IGN found the game tedious and its level design conservative, ranking it one or two tiers below Insomniac Games' other titles.
IGN Score: 6 - Okay
The fluid and satisfying combat system in Marvel's Wolverine grows stale well before the credits roll, meaning that even strong character development can't save its overall performance. In the end, it's merely an "okay" title.
IGN Verdict:
Much like its protagonist's adamantium skeleton, Marvel's Wolverine has a solid foundation. However, it fails to add enough flair to that initially satisfying action experience, causing the combat gameplay to feel repetitive long before the game ends. I wished for more variety, as the combat mechanics reveal all their cards too early, and the level design is largely conservative and uninspired. This means the 15-hour campaign relies heavily on its narrative to carry it. While the story isn't revolutionary, it remains engaging, featuring excellent character portrayals and successfully shaping the image of this X-Men leader. Marvel's Wolverine is decent, but it falls short by a tier or two compared to other superhero games crafted by Insomniac Games.
