Roblox Announces 'Everywhere' Initiative, Allowing Creators to Publish Games as Standalone Apps

On September 11, Roblox announced the "Roblox Everywhere" initiative. In the future, creators can publish games from the platform as standalone applications, covering mobile, PC, and consoles, with related technologies and services still provided by Roblox.

Roblox stated that this initiative aims to help creators reach users who are already active on various devices and applications. Standalone apps will be integrated with the original Roblox client, allowing new players using standalone apps to play together with players in the client through cross-platform multiplayer functionality.

In addition to standalone app releases, Roblox is preparing to lower the barrier to playing on the web. According to the current schedule, players will be able to access game detail pages via the Chrome browser by the end of 2026 and start playing without installing an app, with support for more browsers to follow.

The web player allows players to enter games directly from search results, video platforms, social media, emails, or links shared by creators. Roblox also plans to improve the offline play experience on mobile and enhance features for players to follow and chat with each other across different games.

Creation tools will also continue to expand. Roblox is preparing to invest more in development tools for 2D games and improve content discovery mechanisms; development tools for mobile devices will lower the barrier to creating short-form game content.

The company also announced the Roblox Card, which connects to the Roblox wallet. Creators can directly use their available account balance in supported scenarios, and players can receive discounts when purchasing the platform currency Robux with this card. The card is scheduled to launch in 2027.
