The PS5 emulator KyTyPS5 has made new progress in running Demon's Souls Remake. A demo released by PSXTech shows that the game can reach 30 FPS in at least one scene, but drops to around 18 FPS after moving the camera.
The current 30 FPS performance is unstable, with noticeable fluctuations in frame generation times during operation. PSXTech did not disclose the hardware configuration used to record the demo, so it is not yet possible to determine what kind of PC is needed to achieve this frame rate.
Two days before this demo was released, Demon's Souls Remake was running at between 10 and 18 FPS; the day before that, it could only run at 1 to 2 FPS. KyTyPS5 first managed to get the game past the character creation screen just over a week ago, and reaching close to 30 FPS was once thought to be unlikely until 2027.
KyTyPS5 has also been testing other PS5 games recently. Among them, the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V can reach up to 60 FPS, while Astro Bot has reached actual gameplay footage, albeit with a frame rate of only about 11 FPS.
These games are still far from being playable under normal conditions. Although Demon's Souls Remake has touched 30 FPS in certain scenes, issues such as frame rate drops and abnormal frame generation times remain to be resolved.
