Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that Johnny Depp is in talks to return as Captain Jack Sparrow in a new Pirates of the Caribbean film. The producer stated that discussions are underway regarding the actor's potential appearance in the sixth installment of the series, but no final agreement has been reached yet.
According to Bruckheimer, work on the project is still ongoing. The team is polishing the script, and Paramount Pictures is also keen on having Depp return to this iconic role. However, plot details for the sixth installment and a potential start date for filming have not yet been announced. Depp previously portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow in all five main films of the series. The last Pirates of the Caribbean movie was released in 2017, concluding that chapter of the character's story.
Depp's return cannot yet be considered officially confirmed: currently, negotiations are taking place between the actor and the film's creators. If an agreement is reached, the sixth film could become the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie since 2017 to feature Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
