Netmarble's upcoming title "Shangri-La Frontier: The Seven Supreme Beasts" was available for demo at Tokyo Game Show 2026. This version showcased core mechanics such as one-handed controls and team synergy, and featured "Night Raid Lycagon" as an exhibition-exclusive boss.
Developed for PC, iOS, and Android platforms, the game features automatic basic combat. Players can hold their phone with one hand and perform actions through tapping and swiping, switching characters at critical moments. When "Gravekeeper Wazaemon" prepares to launch an attack, switching to Sanraku in time according to the prompts will trigger a perfect parry.
Team synergy is the core of combat. Players need to sequentially select characters whose synergy type matches the icons above the enemies' heads. Once all icons are destroyed, players can choose a team member to unleash their Ultimate Skill. Some Ultimate Skills also have effects such as restoring HP or resetting skill cooldowns, so players must decide who to activate based on the battle situation.
Landing an Ultimate Skill reduces the enemy's Break Count. Once the count is depleted, the enemy enters a vulnerable Broken state. At this point, players can quickly switch to specific synergy types to launch consecutive attacks; even if a wrong button is pressed midway, the combo count will not reset. The first half of the demo gradually unlocks these systems through multiple battles.
When facing the "Gluttonous Serpent," additional characters such as Bonito, Arthur Pendragon, and Emuru join the party. This battle further introduces the mechanic of interrupting enemy attacks. Players must switch between the five synergy types displayed on screen in rhythm to stop the enemy before they strike. After the battle, the story continues via cutscenes.
Upon reaching the second town, the demo triggers an exhibition-exclusive storyline, where Sanraku and his party encounter "Night Raid Lycagon." This battle is significantly more difficult than the previous tutorial sections. Lycagon can rapidly deplete the party's HP with just normal attacks, requiring players to use character switching, Ultimate Skills, and the Break mechanic more cautiously.
The game presents battles in 3D graphics and simplifies map exploration and movement, allowing players to enter battles continuously as the story progresses. Party composition, equipment, and skill adjustments also influence battle strategy. This demo focuses on showcasing the system through three battles against Gravekeeper Wazaemon, the Gluttonous Serpent, and Lycagon, with the Lycagon battle appearing exclusively in the Tokyo Game Show 2026 demo version.
