Recently, FromSoftware revealed a wealth of new information about Bloodborne through media previews and interviews. One of the latest updates confirmed that development of the title initially began on the original Switch, before benefiting from the improved hardware performance of the Switch 2.
In an interview, director Hidetaka Miyazaki stated that the team was "absolutely thrilled" when Nintendo announced the Switch 2. This was because the studio encountered difficulties while porting Bloodborne to the original Switch—a project whose development began in 2021.
It is worth noting that FromSoftware previously ported Dark Souls to the original Switch, but the studio's support for the platform was limited. The Switch 2 has significantly improved in this regard—Elden Ring will launch on the Switch 2 this month, followed by Bloodborne.
This is not the first time developers have praised the Switch 2. Although its hardware specifications remain modest compared to similar consoles, Nintendo's latest hybrid console has earned recognition from many developers.
Additionally, while completing the Switch 2 port of Elden Ring, FromSoftware gained a deeper understanding of the new hardware's capabilities. The port has demonstrated considerable optimization results, and Bloodborne is also running impressively well.
