According to leaks, after actor Stephen Root accidentally revealed his involvement in GTA VI, Rockstar Games reminded all voice actors for the title to keep their participation in the upcoming open-world masterpiece confidential.
As the developer behind the Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption series, Rockstar is gradually releasing tidbits of information about its new crime-themed title. The company recently announced the GTA VI soundtrack lineup, featuring 34 original songs created by renowned musicians from around the world, and launched a $400 collector's edition that does not include the base game. However, the company has remained tight-lipped about the voice casting for all characters, including Lucia and Jason from Leonida.
According to gaming media outlet Insider Gaming, the reliably sourced podcast GTAVIoclock revealed that Rockstar Games has recently contacted all voice actors, urging them to maintain confidentiality regarding the project: "This is a reminder to everyone to strictly adhere to the non-disclosure agreement. The date when participation information can be publicly disclosed remains November 19."
Just a few weeks ago, Stephen Root, known for his roles in Barry, King of the Hill, and Get Out, confirmed that he would be voicing a character in the game. Root did not specify the exact role, but players had already recognized his voice as that of the drug dealer Bryce Dawes in the first trailer for GTA VI.
Rockstar's use of celebrity voice actors in the Grand Theft Auto series is nothing new—from Samuel L. Jackson to Ray Liotta, many big names have lent their voices to its blockbuster games. Therefore, the company may wish to save the surprise of revealing more famous voice cast members for the official announcement on November 19.
