HBO's The Last of Us has added three new actors for its third season: John Goodman, Laura Bailey, and Ian Alexander. This season is expected to conclude the series and is scheduled to air on HBO Max in 2027, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
The Last of Us series is adapted from two games. Due to the limited source material available for adaptation, it has long been considered more likely that the show would end after Season 3; however, some viewers had previously anticipated a fourth season.
Laura Bailey previously voiced Abby in the game. She will portray the leader of the Seraphite organization in Season 3, a role distinct from her previous voice acting work. John Goodman and Ian Alexander have also joined this season's cast.
Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger. Production of Season 3 was paused for the entire month of June this year because the filming location was simultaneously hosting events for the 2026 World Cup, which impacted on-site shooting due to safety and security arrangements. Season 3 has not been canceled and is still planned for release in 2027.
