Recently, developer BlackBearReloaded released ProsperoEden, an unofficial port of the Switch emulator Eden. It can now run natively on jailbroken PS5 consoles, with some Switch games reaching a playable state.
ProsperoEden runs directly on the PS5 as a homebrew application, without requiring Linux or other intermediate layers. Eden itself is a fork of the discontinued Yuzu emulator. The developer has released compatibility test results for version v1.000.010, which is still in the Alpha stage.
Test results show that Cuphead reportedly reaches 60 FPS, while Metroid Dread hovers around 40 FPS; Super Mario 3D World is playable in some tested scenarios. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe can now enter actual gameplay, though it cannot yet maintain a stable 60 FPS.
These figures do not yet represent performance during full playthroughs: some frame rates come from menu and title screen tests rather than complete gameplay tests. The port currently only supports OpenGL, with no Vulkan backend available on the PS5 yet.
Compatibility also varies by game. Pokémon Legends: Z-A currently runs very slowly and crashes upon closing. ProsperoEden is still in early development.
