Pokémon GO is launching a Mega Gengar Store Raid Event, increasing the spawn rate of related raids at participating stores and offering an exclusive Timed Research. The event coincides with the release of the "30th Celebration" series for the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
The event runs from 10:00 AM local time on September 27 to 10:00 PM local time on October 20. Participating retailers include Best Buy, GameStop, and Target; Mega Gengar raids will appear more frequently at their participating store locations.
Players who visit participating stores can also access an exclusive Timed Research, with rewards including Poké Balls and the chance to encounter event-themed Pokémon. Additionally, by purchasing a Pokémon GO gift card at participating retailers and redeeming the code, players can obtain an in-game Gengar Knit Cap.
Pokémon GO has previously held similar collaborations with the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In late 2025, to coincide with the release of the "Mega Lucario ex" figure collection, the spawn rate of Mega Lucario raids at retail stores was increased. In 2022, the Pokémon Trading Card Game also released an expansion pack themed around Pokémon GO, featuring characters and gameplay elements from the game.
The "30th Celebration" series commemorating this collaboration includes new cards and reprints of classic cards. Each booster pack contains one Pikachu card; the series features 30 different versions of Pikachu, with artwork by illustrators such as Yuka Morii and Ken Sugimori.
