PUBG Vietnam tournaments have been rocked by a scandal involving two players accused of stream sniping. KRAFTON removed them from the exhibition match and subsequently announced permanent bans; local streamers, professional players, and fans began boycotting the game, impacting subsequent competitions.
The controversy erupted during the PUBG Asia Stars 2026 exhibition match, which aimed to showcase players from the Vietnam region. Two players, Himass and TanVuu, were accused of watching their opponents' streams to gain an advantage in the match.
KRAFTON first removed the two players from the event, then announced permanent bans, barring them for life from participating in any KRAFTON-supported esports competitions. Following the announcement, the boycott expanded from streamers and pros to include some casual players. Several esports organizations have withdrawn support for the game, and some internet cafes in Vietnam have begun uninstalling PUBG from their computers.
The fallout has since extended to the game's operations in Vietnam. Rumors suggest that KRAFTON may not have obtained the proper license to operate PUBG locally, though this remains unconfirmed. Meanwhile, several matches in the planned PUBG Vietnam series have been canceled.
PUBG Vietnam's official social media accounts on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram have also been shut down.
