Korean indie game studio HEXIT announced its new PC title, MECCHA LIAR, on September 28 and opened its Steam store page. This is a deception game supporting 2 to 4 players. Players take on the roles of contestants gathered in a mysterious room to compete for a huge cash prize, testing each other in a life-or-death game.
The gameplay revolves around items in a box. Each player chooses one item from bullets, a lighter, batteries, an amplifier, nails, or knives to place in the box, then hands it to another contestant while claiming what is inside. The claim can be either true or false.
The player who receives the box can challenge the claim and open it to check; if they judge incorrectly, they suffer a penalty corresponding to the item inside. Players can also pass the box to the next person without looking inside, but they must make their own claim about its contents when passing it on.
After accumulating four penalties for the same item, a player is eliminated and executed according to that item's corresponding punishment. The release date has not yet been determined, but Japanese language support has been confirmed.
