With The Witcher 3: Remastered set to release tomorrow, foreign media outlet GameSpot compared the visual effects of the PC remastered version with the original game.
Specifically, GameSpot compared version 5.00 with the latest version (4.04). All versions were run at 4K resolution with maximum graphics settings and all effects enabled.
Version 4.04 enabled ray tracing, while version 5.00 enabled both ray tracing and path tracing. Path tracing is a new feature exclusive to The Witcher 3: Remastered, so it cannot be enabled in version 4.04.
The comparison used pre-release versions. CD Projekt Red stated that there might be some minor visual issues, and the development team will continue to address them until the game's release. Therefore, the visuals in the current videos and screenshots may still change.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is scheduled for release on September 29, launching on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. Existing players can upgrade to the remastered version at no additional cost.
