Free Wing and NPC Entertainment have released the official PC version of "Hero's Aspiration: Three Kingdoms" on Steam. The game now includes Japanese language support and allows mod usage via the Steam Workshop.
This is a single-player RPG sandbox game set in the Three Kingdoms era during the late Eastern Han Dynasty, where players live as heroes in a chaotic world. Developed by Free Wing, a Chinese team of fewer than ten members inspired by the Taikou Risshiden and Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, the game underwent approximately five and a half years of development. It launched in Early Access for the Chinese region in March 2025 and has received continuous updates for about another year and a half since then.
Players can strive for unification as a monarch, serve as an advisor, or lead private troops as an independent general. The game also includes systems for sworn brotherhood, marriage, child-rearing, family management, estate administration, and training in martial arts and rhetoric. Players can choose to play as historical figures or create original characters to serve as protagonists or integrate them into the game world.
The game features over 1,300 historical generals and more than 20 initial scenarios, spanning from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the Battle of Xiling, with a total text volume exceeding two million characters. The map is divided into three levels: the full-world map, city views, and small-scale scenes, complemented by over 2,000 dynamic Live2D full-body character illustrations.
Combat is divided into three modes: army battles, duels, and debates. Army battles feature real-time strategy gameplay, covering field battles, sieges, and naval warfare, with over 100 battle maps and more than 30 troop types. Duels and debates use turn-based card combat, allowing players to build decks by combining skills and souls.
The official version of "Hero's Aspiration: Three Kingdoms" is now available on Steam, priced at 68 CNY in China, with a launch discount price of 61.2 CNY.
