GTA 5 Switch Port Project Reaches Its End, Team Announces Closure on October 3

Paralympics Productions, the team behind the unofficial Grand Theft Auto V port for Switch, announced that it will shut down on October 3. The project lead stated that Rockstar had previously taken legal action against the team. Grand Theft Auto V has never received an official Switch release, and this team had attempted to run the game directly on the original Switch hardware.

Project lead M0jso announced the shutdown decision on X on September 28, thanking supporters and apologizing for failing to meet their expectations. He also expressed gratitude for Take-Two's leniency, stating that this shutdown marks the definitive end of the project.

While discussing potential litigation with other users, M0jso stated that he was unlikely to win the case, acknowledging that the opposing party had strong grounds and that his previous actions and statements made it difficult to claim ignorance of the consequences.

This unofficial port runs the game natively on the Switch system without relying on streaming, Android, or Linux, but it requires a modified console. The project reportedly used leaked source code from Grand Theft Auto V.

Previously disclosed performance data showed that the game ran at approximately 10 to 25 FPS without overclocking; with overclocking, the Switch OLED could reach around 30 FPS in less demanding scenes, but frame rates would drop further in busier areas.
