Bandai Namco has confirmed that the Switch 2 physical edition of Tales of Eternia Remastered will use a game key card, meaning the game still needs to be downloaded after purchase. Players who own the Switch version cannot upgrade to the Switch 2 version via an upgrade pack.
Following Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition, Bandai Namco continues to schedule games for the Switch 2. Tales of Eternia Remastered is set for a global release on October 16, 2026, launching on Switch 2, Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. This title will feature improved graphics and quality-of-life enhancements.
The physical editions differ between the two Switch generations: the Switch version will be released as a complete cartridge in Japan, Europe, and some markets outside the US; the US market appears to have only a digital version. The Switch 2 physical edition uses a game key card, requiring players to download the game content.
Additionally, there is no upgrade path from the Switch version to the Switch 2 version, and save data cannot be shared between the two versions.
