The Sony Group has decided not to participate in CES 2027, and its affiliated companies will also not have booths at the event. Sony stated that the group is shifting its business focus toward entertainment, IP, and technologies that support creators, leading to this adjustment in exhibition plans; it will continue to cooperate with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES.
Sony has continuously participated in CES since 1967, maintaining a group booth as recently as 2025. That year's exhibition was themed "Creative Entertainment Vision," covering content such as games, animation, films, music, and creative tools.
At CES 2026, the Sony Group did not set up a booth under its group name, but its joint venture Sony Honda Mobility still exhibited, showcasing in-car entertainment concepts related to PlayStation Remote Play. In contrast, the absence at CES 2027 also extends to affiliated companies.
In its 2026 management policy briefing, Sony mentioned that the combined share of revenue from its gaming, music, and film businesses rose from about 30% in fiscal 2012 to approximately 67% in fiscal 2025. As for whether it will return to CES in 2028 or beyond, Sony has not yet made a decision.
