The previous record was 103,329 players in January 2020, shortly after the Netflix series "The Witcher" aired. For reference, the peak concurrent player count on Steam for the original release in 2015 was around 92,000. These figures only reflect concurrent players on the Steam platform.
CDPR previously announced the remastered version at Gamescom, introducing upgrades to graphics, performance, and gameplay, and stated their desire for the game to deliver an experience befitting a 2026 title.
Existing players on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 can get this update for free. The PC system requirements have also been adjusted: the listed minimum specs include a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 processor and a GTX 1660 graphics card; for the full path tracing experience, an RTX 5080 is mentioned.
