A third-party DLSS 5 injection test for "The Witcher 3: Enhanced Edition" showed that testers perceived increased facial detail for characters like Geralt; under test conditions with path tracing enabled on a GeForce RTX 5090, performance dropped by approximately 26% to 30%. The game currently has no official DLSS 5 support, and an external tool was used for this test.
Live Demo:
Previously, the tester believed that the remaster's path tracing and existing DLSS features improved lighting, but character faces remained similar to the original version. After adding relevant neural rendering features this time, he felt that Geralt and other characters' faces had more detail and looked more realistic.
There is another side to the visual changes: the tool initially used weakened highlights and introduced slight color shifts. The author later switched to a tool that allows adjustment of hue and color parameters, which alleviated some of the color issues. However, different scenes may not be suitable for the same rendering model, and external tools struggle with fine-tuning on a per-scene basis.
The approximately 26% to 30% performance drop applies only to the author's specific hardware, scene, and settings, and should not be considered a fixed result for all PCs. Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation also automatically increases the generation multiplier, so looking solely at the final output frame rate may make it difficult to notice the additional rendering overhead introduced by the injected feature.
