Some visuals in "The Witcher 3: Remastered" have been criticized by players for appearing washed out, lacking clarity and contrast. If PC players also find distant views blurry or the overall image too pale, they can try disabling the Bloom effect in the graphics settings.
This free update has received considerable praise, but some players who compared the new version side-by-side with the original feel that certain scenes are less vibrant than before. Official footage showing Geralt using the Igni sign against a Drowner was also used by some players to compare visual effects. These comments reflect specific scenes and personal perceptions.
Player ITSALOX_ posted side-by-side comparison screenshots on X. The bloom effect appears to cover a significant portion of the screen during outdoor exploration, and disabling it may improve clarity and color performance. Chromatic aberration, motion blur, and vignetting can also be adjusted to preference, but their impact on the visuals is considered less noticeable than bloom. It remains unclear whether the bloom effect is an intentional design choice or a settings issue.
Console players currently do not have the same level of adjustment options as PC players, and it is unconfirmed whether the developers will release related patches. Xbox owners can download the remastered version on PC via the newly added Xbox Play Anywhere support, though they should still consider the PC version's higher hardware requirements.
