A "Raincoat Pikachu" card from the Pokémon Trading Card Game sold for $8.4 million at auction. Also known as the "Fujishima Pikachu," this PSA 10 graded card features Pikachu wearing a raincoat and holding an umbrella in the rain.
This card is not a standard retail release. Its artwork comes from a drawing contest held to promote Pokémon Art Academy, where selected submissions had the chance to be printed on Pokémon cards. The artwork is credited to Y. Fujishima; according to reports, approximately 100 cards featuring this illustration were produced in 2015.
The final sale price differs significantly from previous records. The same auction site sold PSA 10 graded versions of this card in 2024 and 2025 for $12,600 and $19,200, respectively. It is currently unclear why the bids were substantially higher this time.
Another "Pikachu Illustrator" card, also from a drawing contest and not available in stores, previously sold individually for $16.4 million.
