The "Unknown Journey" DLC for Red Desert has been delayed by two weeks. Originally scheduled for release on October 15, 2026, the expansion is now set to launch on October 29. Developer Pearl Abyss explained that they need more time to improve content completeness and operational stability.
In a message to players, Pearl Abyss stated that the team will use the extended time to continue polishing the content and apologized to players eagerly awaiting their return to the game.
The Steam store page has not yet updated the release date.
Progress on this expansion has been announced multiple times. Several months after the game's launch, Pearl Abyss confirmed in June that the expansion was in development, affirmed an October 2026 release window in August, and later revealed the October 15 release date during the PlayStation State of Play event. This delay adjusts the previously announced schedule.
This delay allows it to avoid the peak game release period. This week also sees the Switch 2 versions of Castlevania: Curse of Belmont, Immortal Legacy, and the Resident Evil Remake Trilogy. Unfortunately, the two-week delay puts it in direct competition with Phantom Blade Zero (Oct 29) and Hello Kitty Party Land, which may make choices difficult for some players. However, at least the DLC will be better for it.
