Report: Naughty Dog.exe Developing New Uncharted Title, Not a Remake of the Original

Reports indicate that Naughty Dog.exe is developing a new entry in the Uncharted series, led by Sean Escayg. He previously spearheaded Chloe-focused Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. It has been nearly a decade since Uncharted 4: A Thief's End concluded Nathan Drake's story.

Sean Escayg previously served as Creative Director for Marvel's Avengers. Regarding characters in the new game, MP1st reports that Drake will appear in some capacity, but it remains unclear whether he will be the protagonist, a supporting character, or make a brief cameo. Speculation that his daughter might take up the mantle is merely conjecture based on the ending of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.

This report refers to an entirely new game, not a remake of the original Uncharted. While Naughty Dog.exe had seemingly considered remaking the first installment, the current project is reportedly different.

Insiders also suggest that this new title may slot in after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and before The Last of Us Part III, though the development order has not been officially confirmed and could change. Naughty Dog.exe is currently focused on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet; the name, gameplay, and release date for the new Uncharted game have yet to be disclosed.
