The Witcher 3: Remastered was recently released, but many returning veteran players encountered severe graphical bugs. These issues were predominantly reported by users with AMD graphics cards, particularly affecting models like the RX 7800 XT and RX 9070 XT.
Many players posted screenshots of The Witcher 3: Remastered on Reddit, showcasing a variety of in-game glitches. The grass in White Orchard appeared completely black, fog flickered continuously, and scene objects like trees and buildings vanished entirely. Character textures suffered severe corruption, with Geralt's face and body turning black, leading players to joke that "Geralt has turned black." NPCs had pitch-black eyes, and their clothing materials flickered incessantly. Fire and smoke effects transformed into massive black cubes, and terrain resources failed to load, among other issues.
Many AMD GPU users attempted to fix the issue by disabling ray tracing, switching FSR scaling options, verifying game files, reinstalling the game, or even reinstalling graphics drivers, but none of these solutions worked. CDPR had previously advised players to update their graphics drivers; however, the officially recommended AMD driver version had not yet been formally released at the time, further fueling player frustration.
Some players commented, "I returned with high hopes to revisit the remastered version, only to find Geralt transformed into someone else, making the game unplayable." "So the remaster's big innovation was giving Geralt a new skin—too bad it was delivered via bug." "CDPR clearly drew lessons from the development of Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update, yet we still encountered such severe hardware compatibility issues right at launch."
