Halo Studios Head Denies Management Created Blacklist for Halo Critics

Brian Jarrard, Community Lead at Halo Studios, denied that studio management maintains a blacklist against content creators who criticize the Halo series. This follows discussions sparked by recent team changes within the Halo series, along with online allegations that creators were being excluded for criticizing the studio.

On September 28, creator Rebs Gaming stated that he learned another creator, HiddenXperia, had been excluded for criticizing the studio. He also claimed that series management monitors whether creators' videos are sufficiently positive. These claims were subsequently shared by other creators, prompting a response from Jarrard.

Jarrard stated that the studio did not respond individually to recent rumors due to their sheer volume; however, since the blacklist allegations were clearly false, they decided to issue a public clarification. He noted that HiddenXperia's videos had driven specific improvements during the final stages of development. Discussing how the studio gathers feedback, he listed channels such as user research, field testing, surveys, customer service records, playtests, partner input, and community feedback, stating that these include both positive and negative feedback.

Some creators remained unconvinced by Jarrard's explanation. Later, he reminded creators to be mindful of the non-disclosure agreements they signed with Microsoft, which some interpreted as a threat; Jarrard responded that this was not his intention.
