Sega hopes to bring earlier Sakura Wars titles to modern consoles, but no definitive port projects have been announced yet. Akira Nishino, a Sega producer long involved with the series, stated that the team is still exploring ways to achieve this goal.
Akira Nishino stated that while the company naturally hopes to bring the original titles to modern consoles, various circumstances make it difficult to proceed easily. He mentioned that the team will continue striving toward this goal but did not specify the exact obstacles.
The Sakura Wars main series consists of six titles, with the most recent one released on PS4 in 2020. Early entries in the series blend visual novel, dating sim, and tactical RPG elements, featuring substantial text volumes; localized versions of the series reached Western markets relatively late.
Regarding new entries in the series, Oji Hiroi noted that he had written scripts during related discussions, but having concepts does not mean a project is currently in development. Sega is preparing to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary in Japan through pop-up stores, stage performances, and other events, also mentioning preparations for a larger-scale initiative, though it remains unclear whether this will involve a game.
