Domestic Memory Boom! CXMT DDR5 Chip Performance Test: On Par with SK Hynix Flagship

According to recent hands-on tests by Bilibili creator Cheese Wallace, domestically produced CXMT memory chips can now run stably at DDR5-8000 speeds, delivering performance in select productivity and gaming benchmarks that closely matches overseas flagship Hynix M-die modules.

The test platform featured an Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus processor paired with an MSI Z890M GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard, a Colorful GeForce RTX 5080 Ultra WOC graphics card, and was powered by a 1200W high-capacity PSU.

The memory kits compared were Lexar THOR RGB using CXMT chips (stock spec 7200 MT/s CL38) and Gloway Shenwu using Hynix chips (stock spec 6800 MT/s CL34), both overclocked to 8000 MT/s for testing.

When boosted to 8000 MT/s, the CXMT-based kit runs at CL40-52-52-128 timings, whereas the Hynix-based kit uses tighter CL36-48-48-96 timings.

Benchmarks show that at 8000 MT/s, CXMT-based memory achieves a read bandwidth of approximately 123.32 GB/s and a latency of 76.1 ns, while the Hynix solution reaches about 124.68 GB/s with a latency of 72.2 ns.

Both solutions deliver similar bandwidth performance, with Hynix taking the lead in memory latency thanks to its tighter timings.

In Geekbench 6, the CXMT 8000 MT/s configuration scored 24,576 points, just 0.86% behind the Hynix counterpart at the same frequency, which scored 24,790 points.

In gaming performance tests at 1080p, the average frame rate difference between the two 8000 MT/s kits in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege X is just five frames, less than 1%. In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Remastered, both kits perform at essentially the same level.

In addition, frame rates in major titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Forza Horizon 5 are virtually identical between the two high-frequency kits, with differences under 1 FPS.
