An unofficial PC port of "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker" has recently been released, allowing it to run natively on Windows. This version supports resolutions up to 4K and adds widescreen display as well as keyboard and mouse controls.
The graphics settings offer 16:9, 16:10, and the classic 4:3 aspect ratios. Graphics processing uses Direct3D 12, with support for up to 16x texture filtering and HD texture packs in Dolphin format. For controls, the mouse can be used to control the camera, while the keyboard handles game commands; when using a controller, the right stick allows for quick camera rotation.
Regarding frame rate, the port lists 60 FPS and 120 FPS support via Smooth Motion, as well as an initial native 60 FPS mode, though actual performance may vary. This version also includes some convenience features from the HD release, such as faster sailing, text display, climbing, and door opening, along with improved loading times.
The port supports mods, with certain features toggleable in the settings menu. Save files are stored outside the program directory to reduce the risk of deletion during updates. The download package does not include the original game files; players must provide their own ROM to run it. Currently, the project only supports the US version GZLE01 Rev 0. The original game was released on the GameCube in 2002, and the HD version launched on the Wii U in 2013.
