After airing 26 episodes of its first season, Liar Game has confirmed a second season. ComicBook users expressed disappointment with the first season, criticizing its visual presentation and early narrative pacing.
This anime, produced by Madhouse and adapted from Shinobu Kaitani's manga of the same name, is scheduled to premiere in April 2026. The author believes that the original work's popularity among readers, combined with the high profile of the production company, had raised expectations for the anime.
Regarding the first season's performance, the author felt that the action scenes appeared stiff and the character designs unnatural; the rushed pacing of the early plot also diminished the psychological tension emphasized in the original work.
The author also compared this work to Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, produced by Madhouse, noting the difference in production attention between the two. He hopes that the confirmed second season will improve in quality.
