Japanese indie studio Lunamarine Studio has announced that the free demo for the first-person horror adventure game "Crossing the Boundary" launched on Steam on October 1, 2026. The demo covers the first playthrough, allowing players to explore an abandoned hospital.
Inside the hospital, players must gather clues, solve puzzles and mechanisms, and evade roaming enemies to find a way out. When in danger, players can hide in lockers and other spots.
The story begins in August 2026. The protagonist, aiming to become a paranormal influencer, travels to the fog-shrouded region of Kirisawa, where previous filmmakers have mysteriously vanished. After heading to the first filming location, the "Ruined Hospital," he loses consciousness and awakens in a hospital steeped in Showa-era atmosphere. Set in 1970s Japan, the game also features exploration of Showa-style villages, where players must evade enemies while searching for a way back to the present world.
"Crossing the Boundary" features multiple endings. The developers state that players' understanding of the "truth" will shift with each subsequent playthrough. The game is scheduled to participate in the October Steam Next Fest; the official release date has not yet been announced, but the free demo is currently available for download.
