Ember Lab has announced that the release of "Kena: Scars of Kosmora" has been delayed from 2026 to 2027, with plans to launch on PS5 and PC. The team explained that the new title is larger in scale than 2021's "Kena: Bridge of Spirits," requiring more time to polish the expanded gameplay experience. A specific release date within 2027 has not yet been announced.
The delay announcement also brought new story details. Kena has always helped spirits confront their pain, leaving her no time to care for herself, which becomes the reason for her journey to the island of Kosmora. The island features temples tied to four different cultures, all of which appear to have been devastated by a mysterious catastrophe.
The development team stated that temples are a key part of the game, testing players' skills and offering rewards that drive Kena's journey, though the specifics of these rewards have not yet been revealed. The game will also feature more expansive areas, including an ancient large canine mount (name yet to be announced) that can assist Kena in traversal, puzzle-solving, and combat.
Currently, the specific mechanics of the mount have not been fully disclosed. Apart from the previously released two-and-a-half-minute trailer, the development team has not shown additional actual gameplay footage.
