Recently, former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida suggested that it may be a long time before another game garners as much attention and has a similar impact as GTA 6. He also cautioned against underestimating the potential for competition from Chinese developers.
Shuhei Yoshida discussed this topic on a program by The Verge. GTA 6 had already attracted widespread attention before its release: players had been waiting for a long time, and the industry was closely watching its launch window.
When asked if there will be another game like GTA 6 in the future, Shuhei Yoshida joked, "In 15 years, maybe GTA 7." The "15 years" remark was just an example during the interview and not a confirmation of GTA 7's development or release timeline.
He added that Chinese companies might also attempt to imitate or compete, and their capabilities should not be underestimated. He did not confirm any specific projects; in his view, future competitors to Rockstar are not limited to Rockstar itself.
