Renowned leaker Dusk Golem recently stated that remakes of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 will not be released for at least the next five years. He made this assessment in response to online rumors suggesting that remakes of both titles were in development, stating that, to his knowledge, these rumors are untrue.
Dusk Golem indicated that Capcom approved several Resident Evil series projects a few months ago, but none of them included a remake of Resident Evil 5. As of a few months ago, this remake was also not in development. He claimed that the relevant teams are busy with other projects, making it unlikely that they would shift focus to developing this remake in the near future.
Dusk Golem had previously stated that there wasn't strong internal desire at Capcom to remake Resident Evil 5, but player demand could lead the company to change its decision in the future. Currently, the names and details of these reportedly approved series projects have not been announced; nor has Capcom confirmed the development and release schedules for the two remakes.
