On October 1, CDPR released update 5.00c for the PC version of The Witcher 3: Enhanced Edition, fixing an issue where the game might fail to save or load saves if the Documents folder path contained special characters. Console versions had already received the update earlier that day.
Update 5.00c also reverted a change that had caused noticeable performance and visual issues for some players with HairWorks enabled. The patch also addressed an issue where voice volume could be significantly lower than other game audio after switching between different tabs in the pause menu.
Visual adjustments mainly involved bloom, vegetation lighting, saturation, and path tracing lighting in the Velen region. Other fixes included marketing telemetry settings not saving correctly, achievements earned on GOG not displaying, and the classic version 1.32 failing to launch. The aforementioned PC fixes apply to Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and Xbox Play Anywhere.
Earlier that day, update 5.00b was released, which included fixes for issues such as DLSS not working with Xbox Play Anywhere on PC, and certain indoor scenes being too dark.
