KRAFTON Cancels Development of PUBG: Black Budget, Citing Difficulty in Sustaining Long-Term Engagement

KRAFTON has terminated the development of "PUBG: Black Budget." This first-person game, which had not yet been officially released, originally attempted to combine extraction shooter gameplay with the battle royale mechanics of "PUBG." The development team stated that, given the project's current direction, it was difficult to create an experience that players could enjoy long-term.

"PUBG: Black Budget" had previously conducted player tests. During the early testing phase, the peak concurrent player count approached 10,000, and the wishlist rankings also showed a certain level of interest, but the project ultimately did not move forward.

The development team issued a statement on Steam, announcing that after reviewing the project's development status and future direction, they have decided to end development. The team also thanked players who participated in the closed Alpha test and provided feedback. PUBG STUDIOS stated that they will apply the experience gained from development and testing to future projects and continue to listen to player feedback.

Other projects within the "PUBG" product line have also seen progress: the team canceled "PUBG: Blind Spot" earlier this year and showcased "PUBG: DED.NET" in August. "PUBG: Black Budget" ended development before its official release.
