"Escape from Playtime" launched its public beta on October 1, giving players their first chance to enter the game. This multiplayer co-op survival horror spin-off of "Poppy Playtime," developed by Mob Entertainment, is scheduled to release in Early Access on October 21.
Players can team up with up to three friends, taking on the roles of smaller Critters as they venture into an abandoned toy factory. While being pursued by creations from the forsaken Playtime Co., teams must explore the environment, scavenge for resources, and strive to survive.
The game supports proximity voice chat, meaning communication is affected by the distance between teammates when they are separated. Compared to the more linear traditional chapters of "Poppy Playtime," this title emphasizes replayability: each entry into the factory features procedurally generated maps, requiring teams to adapt to new routes and surrounding threats.
The Early Access launch is expected to feature eight playable characters, one starting area, and a roster of enemies. Mob Entertainment plans to gradually add more areas and enemies thereafter.
