Gears of War: E-Day will officially launch on October 6, with early access already available. Just before release, The Coalition studio announced the complete system requirements for this new title, including the hardware threshold needed to run at maximum quality with full frames—frankly speaking, the requirements are not low. However, as long as your graphics card supports ray tracing, you should be able to run the game smoothly at medium quality settings.
To run the game at 4K resolution with Ultra quality presets, you'll need a graphics card equivalent to an RTX 5070 Ti or RX 7900 XT. This configuration targets a stable 60 FPS. Considering the listed 12GB of VRAM, I believe lower-end graphics cards can barely achieve this performance with the help of upscaling technologies.
Gears of War: E-Day will support DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 3.0 at launch, offering a rich selection of upscaling solutions.
Aside from that, the GPU requirements are largely consistent with the version announced this June: the minimum requirement is an RTX 2060 or RX 6600, while the recommended configuration is an RTX 3060 Ti/RX 6700 XT. Only the hardware requirements for 4K Ultra quality see a significant increase. It's worth noting that Gears of War: E-Day has one strict requirement: the graphics card must support ray tracing. The developers explicitly stated in the new configuration list:
"The game requires a graphics card that supports hardware ray tracing. Graphics cards without dedicated hardware ray tracing capabilities cannot run this title."
It couldn't be stated more clearly. This title features ray-traced reflections, ray-traced shadows, and global illumination effects.
CPU requirements vary widely: the minimum is just a Ryzen 5 2600X, while the recommended configuration is a Ryzen 5 5600. To run at 4K Ultra quality, it's best to have an 8-core processor or higher. Additionally, the official recommendation includes chips with 3D V-Cache technology: the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, with the Intel Core i7 14700K also listed as an alternative. I estimate that next-generation Arrow Lake architecture processors will also be capable, although their performance is sometimes slightly inferior.
The RAM requirements aren't particularly high; even at 4K resolution, only 16GB is needed, with a minimum of 12GB for basic operation. However, players must reserve space on an SSD for the game, which requires 115GB of storage. The developers specifically emphasized that an SSD is mandatory to run the game.
