"Nightcrawler" Reveals Train Defense Co-op Gameplay, Steam Demo Test Launches on October 3

Indie studio 314 Arts has revealed gameplay for the co-op shooter Nightwalkers, with a Steam demo test scheduled to begin on October 3, 2026. The game features PvE-only gameplay, where up to four players work together to defend a train traveling through a post-apocalyptic world against relentless creature attacks.

When the train stops at stations, the team can venture into nearby areas to scavenge for supplies before attempting to escape with their loot. The released gameplay footage shows players defending individual carriages and entering neighboring towns to gather resources.

Each player starts by managing one carriage, each with its own defenses and capabilities. If a carriage is destroyed or detached, the team must retreat to the remaining carriages, reducing their available space. The developers also introduced loadouts that can alter gameplay, along with class skills such as Engineer and Stalker.

In addition to train defense and scavenging missions, the game will feature an endless mode with continuous enemy waves, as well as a dungeon mode with a linear structure and boss battles. Players can apply for the demo test via the Steam page, with applications open until October 4. No official release date has been set yet, though the developer's website currently lists 2027.
