Windows 11 26H2 Memory Usage Optimization! But Only High-End PCs Can Enjoy It

The Windows 11 26H2 update has begun rolling out globally. Some users have reported reduced memory usage, but this optimization seems to benefit only high-end PCs.

Screenshots shared by a user show that memory usage dropped by about 2GB after updating to 26H2. Their PC is equipped with 48GB of RAM, so saving 2GB has virtually no impact on their experience.

Another user saw their memory usage drop from 9.1GB to 7.5GB. This user also has a high-end PC equipped with 32GB of RAM.

Another user reported the exact opposite: after the update, memory usage remained unchanged. Their PC has only 8GB of RAM, with daily usage hitting 96% (around 7.4GB), nearly maxing out.

As you can see, the two PCs that experienced lower memory usage had 48GB and 32GB of RAM respectively, while the 8GB system saw no change. This suggests Microsoft's memory optimization is heading in the right direction, but it primarily benefits high-end users who don't really need to save memory. Meanwhile, 8GB devices struggling under memory pressure are left out in the cold.
