AMD 26.9.2 Driver Adds Support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Early Access and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remaster

AMD released the AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.9.2 driver on September 29 (US time), adding support for six new games and fixing occasional driver timeout issues when running Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs. This version is intended for Radeon RX 5000 series and newer graphics cards, as well as certain APUs equipped with RDNA architecture and later graphics cores.

Newly supported games include Minecraft Dungeons 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV Early Access, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, Gears of War: E-Day, Control: Resonance, and Dead Courage. AMD has not claimed performance improvements for these games with the new driver; added support does not necessarily imply frame rate enhancements.

Other fixes address driver timeouts when running War Thunder on Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs under specific recording settings, as well as potential driver timeouts or system freezes when running Hitman: World of Assassination on RX 9000 series GPUs.

Version 26.9.2 has passed WHQL certification but is an optional release that cannot be installed via AMD Install Manager. Users who need to update must find the corresponding installer on the AMD official website based on their device model. Some RX 5000 series devices may still experience driver timeouts when running War Thunder; AMD recommends affected users roll back to version 26.9.1.

Additionally, AMD had previously promised to address VRAM transfer issues when using the Radeon AI PRO R9000 series as a headless compute accelerator, but this fix was not included in the 26.9.2 release notes, and its current status remains to be verified.
