Recently, Naoki Hamaguchi, head of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, stated that he would welcome a full remake of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and would even like to buy and play it. However, if he were responsible for its development, he would be daunted by the sheer scale of the work involved.
In a recent interview with Radio Times Gaming, Naoki Hamaguchi was asked which classic game he would like to see return as a full-scale remake. He mentioned Final Fantasy VI and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Regarding the latter, he said Geralt's adventures left a deep impression on him, and his years of development experience have also given him greater respect for the colleagues who created the game.
Naoki Hamaguchi has spent over 13 years reimagining Cloud's story. For The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, he specifically highlighted its massive content volume, branching quest system, and open-world scale. Remaking these aspects with modern technology would impose a heavy development burden.
