There is new information about the director for the sequel to Jurassic World: Rebirth. Borys Kit, a reporter for The Hollywood Reporter, stated on X that Universal Pictures currently lists J.A. Bayona as the top choice to direct the sequel. Bayona previously directed Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but this selection has not yet been officially confirmed.
Gareth Edwards, director of Jurassic World: Rebirth, will not return to direct another Jurassic World film, citing unspecified creative differences. News of Bayona's potential return has sparked mixed reactions: some franchise fans appreciate his previous work on the series, while others who favor his personal projects hope he won't commit to another major franchise production.
Bayona also directed The Impossible and Society of the Snow, with two other projects in early development. Regarding the cast for the sequel, Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali are expected to return, though their involvement has not yet been officially confirmed.
