Dan Houser Says Absurd Ventures Will Reveal Open-World Comedy and Dystopian Sci-Fi Games

Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser recently discussed two games currently in development at Absurd Ventures during an interview with Variety: one is an open-world comedy, and the other is a dystopian sci-fi title. He stated that the team will reveal more information about the former in the coming months.

Houser stated that the focus of the open-world comedy is on comedic expression and creating memorable characters. The other title revolves around a game development project that spirals out of control, featuring an AI that gains self-awareness. According to him, this AI was created by two people who dislike each other, and consequently, it dislikes itself as well.

The two titles are related to projects previously mentioned by Absurd Ventures as "Absurdaverse" and "A Better Paradise." The latter, "A Better Paradise," was originally an audio project and is now being adapted into a game. Neither game has officially announced titles, release dates, platforms, or actual gameplay footage, and their development stages remain unclear.

Discussing the pressure he faced while making the Grand Theft Auto series, Houser said he focuses on whether the work has creative sincerity, satisfies him personally, and brings something new.
