Recently, the development team behind "Fable 4" revealed that the game will continue the series' early tradition of accessible combat, while adding hit feedback for specific enemy body parts. The team also mentioned that some quests can be progressed through dialogue, exploration, and other means, rather than relying solely on combat.
Deputy Director Will Kennedy stated that the team kept the tradition of accessibility from earlier titles in mind when designing the new game's combat system. Accessibility does not mean a lack of detail: players can aim at specific body parts of enemies. After an arrow hits the leg of an undead enemy called a Hollow, it will fall to the ground and continue crawling toward the player.
Craig Littler also described another enemy reaction: enemies become disoriented after being decapitated, causing ranged enemies to fire wildly. Spells have corresponding interactions as well. Kennedy gave an example, stating that turning a Hollow into a chicken results in an undead chicken, and casting a fireball on it turns it into a roasted chicken.
Beyond combat, Littler stated that some quests utilize dialogue choices or reputation systems, while others feature more exploration content, and even include puzzles. Kennedy alsoconfirmed that all achievements/trophies in this game can be unlocked without requiring multiple playthroughs. It is reported that the team has finalized the complete achievement list, but cannot disclose specific details at this time to avoid spoiling the game's surprises.
