Sony is reportedly in talks to secure the film adaptation rights for EA's Battlefield series, though the project's status has not yet been finalized. Several film studios had previously competed for the project, and Sony declined to comment on the negotiations.
Among the currently disclosed creative team, Christopher McQuarrie is slated to handle writing, directing, and producing duties, while Michael B. Jordan is set to serve as a producer. Jordan may also appear in the film, but this depends on other factors, and there is no confirmed casting news at this time.
EA's Jesse Stern, along with several producers from other companies, have also been attached to the project. These arrangements are still subject to further confirmation.
The Battlefield series launched in 2002, with the latest installment, Battlefield 6, released in 2025. Reports list it as the best-selling first-person shooter of the year and in the series' history. The deal for the film adaptation rights is still under negotiation.
