PlayStation Users Report Account Hacks: Linked Email Changed Even After Password Reset

Recently, PlayStation community user RealRadec posted that their PSN account had been compromised. They stated that they repeatedly attempted to log in and change their password, logged out of all devices, and re-enabled two-factor authentication, but the email address originally linked to the account was still changed. This self-reported incident has once again drawn community attention to PSN account security.

PlayStation用户称账号遭入侵 改密码后关联邮箱仍被更改

RealRadec has over 30,000 followers on X. Earlier this year, several PlayStation players were involved in social engineering controversies; after podcast host Colin Moriarty's account was hijacked, the issue sparked widespread discussion. He later regained access to his account through his personal connections.

One previously discussed method of account hijacking may exploit PSN usernames, associated email addresses, and information such as transaction IDs or purchase dates. Some of this information may be publicly visible, while other details could be inferred. However, there is currently no evidence that RealRadec's recent incident involved the same method.

The accumulation of digital purchases and trophy records also raises concerns among players about losing both purchased content and usage history if their accounts are compromised. The specific cause of RealRadec's recent account anomaly, and whether the account has been recovered, remains to be confirmed.
